My apologies...

...to Blogger and to Scott Kelby. You see, I went back and reread his color settings/profile section and found that it really doesn't pay to skim over his material then start fiddling around with things as if I know what I'm doing. He actually says that if you plan on using a lab to print your photos (which I do since we can't really afford a professional quality photo printer at the moment) rather than printing them on your own printer at home, then use sRGB settings in your camera and in Photoshop. Go figure. This is a good reminder for me to just slow down and absorb things rather than plowing on full speed ahead. This whole situation could have been avoided if I had bothered to actually read Kelby's full text. Well, lesson learned. Apology extended. Please forgive. :)
